David Nugent
My name is David Nugent, and I am interested in continuing to serve as a Trustee for the Library. My love for the Amagansett Library began when my wife and I bought our house here in 2011. In that time, it has become a special place for us and our three children and I would be thrilled to help it continue to thrive. Since becoming members of the library, we have been involved in many ways with its programming. I participated in a lecture 2 years ago about my job and how it fits within the local community, and I’ve also taken part in many of the online classes such as learning to draw and studying genealogy. My children have also enjoyed the storytelling programs, costume making, chess classes, wildlife demonstrations and cupcake demonstrations and more wonderful programs. Our oldest has even organized lemonade stands in order to raise money to donate to the library as she shares my passion for it!
I have also been the Artistic Director for the HamptonsFilm, the parent organization of the Hamptons International Film Festival since 2007. As someone who has been involved in the cultural landscape of the community for 18 years now, and helped to steer a non profit through many hard times, I think that I would be a great fit to continue in this position. My family will also continue to promote the library and all that it does both through our network of families and friends and through my wife’s Instagram account where she has 20k followers, many of them influential members of the community. The library is a cherished part of the community. I would be honored to be able to work to continue to see the library accomplish its goals.

I most recently served on the Amagansett Free Library Board from 2018 to 2024, holding the position as Vice President for two terms. I am currently seeking a position on the Board to continue the work that has welcomed and served our community with open arms through some unprecedented and challenging times.
Amagansett has been home for my family for almost 28 years, and as a full time resident for the last 18. A Greenwich Village native, I used to spend summers as a high school student in Amagansett and Montauk.
After attending Bowdoin College, and returning to NYC, I worked as an Account Executive at Young & Rubicam Advertising, where I worked on accounts such as Blockbuster, MetLife and Advil. Shortly after meeting my husband, Francisco, and becoming a full time mother of two, the move to live year round in Amagansett was a welcomed progression.
As small business owners, and parents in the Amagansett community, the Library has always been a source of community interaction and creative resources. Throughout the years we’ve attended the informative wildlife presentations, various craft activities, and local history presentations.
As a former Board member, I was privileged to participate on the Grounds & Buildings committee, which was responsible for the refreshing of some of the communal spaces within the Library, such as the new furniture in the Biography room, creation of the Teen space and the revamping of the window seats in the children’s room and second floor reading nook.
I enjoyed my term on the Board, which is why I am to seeking re-election to continue to be a part of not only the Library’s continued growth and vision but the Community’s as well. I look forward to potentially working again with a group that helps educated, entertain, and inspire our community.
